Storage Hackney Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Storage Hackney has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. It is made in respect of the current financial year and reflects our ongoing commitment to ethical conduct and respect for human rights.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Hackney maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, debt bondage, child labour, and exploitation. We are committed to conducting business in a manner that respects the dignity and rights of every individual, and we expect the same high standards from all parties we work with.
This commitment is embedded in our business practices, codes of conduct, and supplier expectations. Any identified breach of this policy will be treated as a serious matter and may result in the termination of relationships with employees, contractors, or suppliers involved.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Storage Hackney operates storage and related support services, engaging with a range of suppliers including property and facility management, security, cleaning, maintenance, equipment, and professional services. While we consider our direct operations to be relatively low risk for modern slavery, we recognise that risks can exist at multiple levels of our supply chain, particularly where labour-intensive or outsourced services are involved.
Risk Assessment and Due Diligence
We regularly review our supply chain to identify and assess potential areas where the risk of modern slavery may arise. This includes considering the nature of services provided, geographical locations, and sectors known to have higher vulnerability. Where elevated risk is identified, we take proportionate steps to strengthen our oversight and controls.
Supplier selection and onboarding processes require suppliers to confirm their compliance with all applicable labour and human rights laws. We aim to work only with organisations that share our commitment to preventing modern slavery and demonstrate clear and transparent employment practices.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Storage Hackney is developing and implementing a programme of supplier audits to monitor compliance with our modern slavery expectations. These audits may be conducted directly by our team or by qualified third parties and can include document reviews, site visits, and discussions with management and workers where appropriate.
Where non-compliance or areas of concern are identified, we will work with suppliers to develop corrective action plans and monitor progress. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to address substantiated issues, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to raise concerns about potential modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be escalated through internal reporting lines or to senior management. Individuals are encouraged to report any suspicion, whether in our own operations or in our supply chains.
We are committed to ensuring that no one who raises a genuine concern in good faith suffers retaliation or detrimental treatment as a result. All reports will be taken seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated appropriately. Where necessary, Storage Hackney will cooperate with relevant authorities in investigating and addressing allegations.
Training and Awareness
To support our zero-tolerance approach, Storage Hackney provides training and guidance to relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and site operations. Training covers the nature of modern slavery, indicators of risk, and the processes for reporting concerns or suspected cases.
We seek to foster a culture where ethical conduct is valued and where staff understand their responsibilities in identifying and escalating potential issues.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Storage Hackney recognises that preventing modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility requiring continuous improvement. We will review this Modern Slavery Statement at least once every year, or more frequently if required by changes in law, guidance, or our business activities.
The annual review will consider the effectiveness of our policies, due diligence measures, supplier audits, training, and reporting channels. Where improvement opportunities are identified, we will update our processes and communicate changes to staff and relevant stakeholders.
This statement has been approved by the management of Storage Hackney and will be updated and reissued on an annual basis to reflect our ongoing commitment to combating modern slavery and human trafficking.
